About DOVEDUP
DOVEDUP is an electronic music project with a long memory. Its story sits in the dance culture of the 1990s and early 2000s, downstream of the acid house that started it all. That is where it begins, not where it stops. The aim is to take the feeling of that music and push it somewhere of its own.
The name is a nod to the doves of the nineties scene and the phrase “doved up”. The mark, a spray-paint acid smiley with doves for eyes, wears the same heritage on its sleeve. It is affection for a moment in music, not nostalgia for its own sake.
This is early days. DOVEDUP is a persona and a wider brand as much as a sound, and the direction is being kept open on purpose. It may run to DJ sets and selections, to reworks of older material, to new productions, or to backing the next generation coming up. What stays constant is the spirit it draws on and the energy behind it.
